Training Videos

Welcome to Share The Story. On this website you will find a series of training videos that will help you understand the basic foundations of the strategy of Biblical Storying and it’s value for evangelism, developing leaders and starting new churches around the world. We will discuss the art of storytelling and give practical examples of its use. When possible, we encourage the use of these videos in a small group setting. Each video ends with discussion questions that are meant to help the group begin to interact together with the material being presented. Of course, the videos can also be used for individual training. Our prayer is that these training sessions effectively serve you as you seek to make known the greatest story ever to fall upon human ears.

Part 1: We have a story to tell

Biblical Storying is deeply rooted in the way God has revealed himself to us through the Scripture. Jesus is the Master Storyteller, and desire to follow his example.

Part 2: Fulfilling the great commission

Jesus commissioned us to go make disciples of all the people-groups of the world. Here we examine how Jesus trained his first disciples to carry out this mission.

Part 3: Cultural Obstacles to the Gospel

Here we examine how Biblical Storying can help overcome wrong worldview assumptions hold people back from receiving the good news about God’s great salvation through Christ.

Part 4: Declaring the Whole Counsel of God

Paul the Apostle told the leaders of the church in Ephesus that he had declared ‘the whole counsel of God’ to them. We will examine how Biblical Storying can help us accomplish this today among those we desire to share the good news with.

Part 5: Which Stories Do We Tell?

The Bible is a big book. There are around 500 stories in the Bible. How do we decide which stories to tell in a given situation, among a particular group of people? Here we consider this question in more detail.

Part 6: Called to Make Disciples

Jesus was very intentional about training his disciples. In this session we will consider how Biblical Storying can play a vital role in the disciple making process.

Part 7: Starting New Churches

Here we will discuss how Biblical Storying is a very reproducible process that can give rise to starting and multiplying reproducing churches.

Part 8: Where Do We Begin

In this session we will share how we can begin this journey in Biblical Storying, whether we go to people who live on the other side of the world or to people who live across the street.

Part 9: Preparing to Tell the Story 1

Storytelling is an art form. In this session we begin to examine the ‘nuts and bolts’ of good storytelling. We will discuss practical ways to remember the story and how to maintain the interest of the listeners as we tell the story.

Part 10: Preparing to Tell the Story 2

Here we continue with specific aspects of effective storytelling. We will discuss the impact of spoken words and tone of voice. We will consider how to start and end a story.

Part 11: Engaging With The Story

In this session we will focus on how effective discussion leading after telling the story is a vital aspect of the Share The Story strategy.
